June Holidays - 4th Week

This is the final week of the June Holidays, which means school will be starting on the 25th June, Monday. This week was more of a relaxing week for me as I didn't go out of my house as often as I did on the previous weeks, except for New South Wales training in school. Felt quite irritated throughout this week as I realised that I have many things to accomplish which are not done yet!

This week, I had my New South Wales training session from Tuesday and Wednesday. The timing was just right for me and the way the instructor thought us was quite good. Most of the questions were quite tricky and difficult at first, but after much explanation, it felt a whole lot more easier.

I spent some time with my family during this week as we went to watch "Fantastic 4". It wasn't that fantastic as the title would say but it was just right for people like me to just take some time to "de-stress". Was quite upset about some things and frustrated during this week. Usually people would say that the last week of the holidays are always the best, but I don't think it's working out for me. If I can rephrase it, it would be. "Treasure the holidays and time that is given to you and never neglect on anything that falls in your way."

That's all I have to say for now. See you all when school re-opens.

June Holidays - 3rd Week

This is the 3rd Week of the June Holidays and I have 1 more week to go before the 2nd school term begins.

This week was quite relaxing for me as I didn't go out of my house much and I spent most of my time at home doing my homework and revision.

On Wednesday, I went to my church for a filming production for my youth service. It was fun editing and filming the whole production. We started planning our setting during lunch time with the help of a couple of my close friends. At 3pm we did our first filming shoot at the open field but we changed location because the sun at that time was very hot! My role in the whole production is to be a cameraman and to edit the video. It was fun seeing how the director (one of my church friends) telling us to restart all from beginning and to see the tired faces from the actors. The video is just an announcement for our weekly youth services.

On Friday, I went for a planetshakers concert at The Max Pavillion Hall at Expo. It was fun and really exciting to see them perform!

I enjoyed this week!

June Holidays - 2nd Week

On the 2nd Week of the June Holidays, I went for my church camp which is at Palace Of The Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur. It was a 4 days adn 3 nights camp from 3 June (Sunday) to 6 June (Wednesday).

We had a fun time there playing games and interacting with other fellow church campers. We left for Kuala Lumpur at 8.30 am on Sunday with the coach buses. Our church booked in total 17 coach buses to and fro from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and back. During the bus rides I played a couple of games with my fellow church friends and we had an enjoyable time talking and laughing around in the bus. We reached Palace Of The Golden Horses, Kuala Lumpur at 2.30pm.

On Friday, after the camp, I went to sent off one of my friends' who is going to Perth, Australia to pursue her education at a local university there. I was quite sad at that moment as I will not be able to see him for the next 2 years.

On Saturday, I went out with my friends to watch a movie: Pirates of the carribean 3. It was nice and really exciting. I really enjoyed the whole movie.

June Holidays journal - Week 1

The school holidays has just started this week! On 26 May was our last day of school, and we had a Meet-the-Parents Session on that day too. On 28 May, my parents brought my brother and I too eat dinner at Swensen's for my grandmother's birthday with my relatives. We ate until our stomachs were full, it was very delicious.

On 30 May, I went to watch an album launch concert performed by the Sonic Edge Band at Church Of Our Saviour in Queenstown. I really had a fun time enjoying myself there. I met my church friends for tea-break and then we made our way to the concert. The concert started at 7.30pm and ended around 10.30pm.

The next day, I went to have a picnic with my family and cousins at East Coast Park. We spent quite some time cycling, flying kites and enjoying a good fellowship time together. It was really a good refreshing start for the first week of the holidays.m

Career Fair 2007

Last Friday on the 2ndd of March 2007, my whole school went to the Suntec City Exhibition Hall for the Career Fair 2007. It was situated at the 6th floor, halls 601 - 603. It was an exhibition showcasing different kinds of careers and jobs which will be useful in helping to choose our careers in the future.

The purpose of going to this career fair is to know more about the career choice that we have made and how to achieve that in the future. I learnt alot after going to this career fair, I now know that in order to be able to achieve your career in the future, you have to fulfill alot of requirements and to meet up with all these standards in order to get what you want. It is not easy to be able to accomplish all this but with alot of determination and perseverance, I am sure that I will be able to achieve all this.

I think that the career fair was overall a well-experienced trip. You can know alot of things that you didn't know in the past and what kind of standards or rather expectations to meet up with. You can see from the fair that those people who are manning the booth are all very well-dressed and smart. I'm very happy to have this opportunity to visit this fair as it gives me a more closer loook into the career that I will be choosing in the future. I hope to have more of this kind of exhibitions in the future.

Information report on Career review

Here are some of the list of things I need to do in order to become a Crime Scene Investigator in the future:

Some of the essential functions include: Responding to crime scenes to conduct crime scene investigations; duties include processing of crime scenes, photographing crime scenes, taking measurements to produce scaled drawings, and scanning all crime scene film onto computer files to maintain accurate records for retrieval; locates, documents, collects, preserves, analyzes and interprets various types of physical evidence including fingerprints; provides for necessary identification and preservation for latent print use in court of law; conducts laboratory examinations in Police Department investigations as required; conducts testing on evidence or transfers evidence to qualified laboratories; completes supplemental reports and laboratory requests; operates crime laboratory equipment including microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators; maintains accurate records and complies with chain of custody requirements; maintains a safe and clean working environment; keeps accurate inventory of supplies for ordering; works overtime assignments and maintains an on-call status 26 weeks per year; must have a 45-minute response time to crime scenes from place of residence; may be required to conduct research and write grants related to crime scene investigation work; and performs other duties as assigned.

I like this kind of job as it test my ability to be able to be on time to report to the crime scene and to be a careful person when handling chemicals.

Qualifications/Experience needed for my career

What are the requirements needed for my job is to at least a 4 year degree in science while others only require an 'O' Level Certificate. Generally, if you want to work in a crime laboratory as a Criminalist you will need at least a 4 year degree in science (such as Biology or Chemistry). If you want to be a Crime Scene Technician you usually need less formal education. Some agencies require you be a sworn police officer before becoming a Crime Scene Investigator.

Regardless of what the education and experience are for the job you are seeking, there are some things that I can prepare for the job and the interview. As a person who interviews candidates for law enforcement jobs, agencies are inclined to give jobs to those who have a clear understanding of the job they are applying for, and have done something to prepare themselves for the job.

When I want to apply for the job in future, I must be sure that I do my homework, which is learning about the agency and the community it serves. A favorite question asked in most of the job interviews is "What do you know about our department and what do you know about our community?" I must be prepared to answer this kind of common typical questions when I want to apply for my job.

More information on my career

I watched a short video clip during my English Lesson talking about "HEARTWARE" it is a National Education video. These are the comments I felt after seeing the video. I feel very secure living in Singapore as the nation is protected and I also feel a sense of belonging to my nation. Singapore is being constantly promoted to other countries so that we can gain in economy wise. It binds us as Singaporeans together in one harmony and nation and we play apart in this growth in one way or another, and I believe in Singapore.

My career path that I've chosen is to be work as a Crime Scene Investigator. My passion for this job started when I watched a TV Drama series known as CSI or Crime Scene Investigation. The reason I chose this is because I'm very interested in solving mysteries in crimes and I like to deal with chemical experiments as I find it very fascinating and interesting. You need to have a lot of courage to do such a job in order to bring justice back to where it should belong to.

I hope you know more about my career and that I will know more of yours too. Thank You!
